How We Judge
Every figure here comes from one of three places: the eight third-party laboratory documents we publish in full on the certificates page, including the two that test the water itself, both from Guangdong Quantum Testing Technology (QTT), Foshan, commissioned by the manufacturer, not by us; the manufacturer's written specification for the H88; and the human trials cited on our science page. What we did not do matters as much: Peakspan has never commissioned a test, the pitcher has no hydrogen test at all, and no migration test exists yet for the electrode and membrane assembly. Where a number has no document behind it, this page says so.
What Actually Matters in a Hydrogen Water Bottle
Seven checks, in order. The first two eliminate most of the category.
1. A measured PPB figure, not a claimed one
Every bottle advertises a PPB number, parts per billion of dissolved hydrogen, and almost none publish the report behind it. The only figure worth trusting comes from a named third-party laboratory, on the model you are actually buying, with method and cycle time stated, in a document you can open. Ask three things: which laboratory, what report number, when in the cycle?
2. Sealed cup versus open glass, the saturation trap
Hydrogen saturates in water at roughly 1,600 PPB (1.6 PPM) at normal atmospheric pressure. Anything above that is possible only in a sealed vessel, a closed bottle builds pressure during its cycle, and it starts falling once the cap comes off. An above-saturation claim is not automatically fiction, but it needs sealed-vessel evidence, and it always carries the same instruction: drink it fresh.
3. PEM/SPE membrane quality
PEM/SPE is a claimed design class, not proof of what reaches the water. Ask for the production membrane make and part number in writing, then ask for a byproduct test on the exact model. Peakspan does not yet have written confirmation of the H88 membrane material.
4. Electrode materials
Ask for the electrode substrate and coating in writing for the production model, then look for migration testing on the wetted electrode assembly. Peakspan's held H88 substrate claim is below the evidence bar and is therefore not published as a product fact.
5. Ozone and byproduct testing
A membrane claim is not a result. Look for an ozone report with a named sample, method and cycle. QTT found ozone not detected in water from the submitted H88 sample immediately after one 10-minute cycle (LH2025110015-1, GB/T 5750.11-2023, manufacturer-commissioned).
6. Body materials, and what “BPA free” actually means
Treat body-material and “BPA free” wording as sample-specific unless a report covers the final assembly. ZTS26062239DRC found BPA not detected at 0.05 mg/kg in the two submitted samples identified as a Tritan cup body and aluminium lid. The electrode and membrane assembly was not tested, and the report is not FDA approval.
7. Water requirement, battery, and who stands behind it
Three practical checks before any PPB figure. Water: use low-mineral water (TDS below 5). Battery: ask for watt-hours and a UN 38.3 report; H88-ZQ-29 is documented at 9.25 Wh. Support: look for a named seller, written warranty and real address.

The H2 Quantum Flask Against Those Same Criteria
The same standard, applied to ourselves, documents first.
Hydrogen concentration. Rated 4,000 PPB in 5 min · 8,000 PPB in 10 min. QTT report LH2025110014-1 records 8,600 PPB in the sealed cup immediately after one 10-minute cycle on one submitted H88 sample, using Watsons distilled water at 21.2 °C under method T/GDID 1007-2018. The manufacturer commissioned the report. The result covers that sample and condition, not every production unit, a retained concentration, a dose or a health outcome.
Ozone and byproducts. Not detected after a full 10-minute cycle (QTT report LH2025110015-1, method GB/T 5750.11-2023, same sample, also commissioned by the manufacturer).
Membrane and electrodes. Platinum-titanium electrode plates with a DuPont Nafion N117 PEM/SPE membrane.
Materials and battery. Report ZTS26062239DRC identifies the submitted samples as a Tritan cup body and aluminium lid and found BPA not detected; the electrode assembly was outside scope and this is not FDA approval. The H88-ZQ-29 battery is documented at 2,500 mAh, 3.7 V and 9.25 Wh in a UN 38.3 report. Connector, charge time, cycles per charge, production dimensions and final colour availability are announced with the production run.
What we have not tested. No Peakspan-commissioned test exists, every document above was commissioned by the manufacturer or its battery supplier. No migration test on the electrode and membrane assembly yet. No chlorine test. No hydrogen test for the pitcher at all. The gaps are on the certificates page in the same size type as everything else.

Is hydrogen water safe?

How many PPB do I need?
Published human trials mostly used 500–1,600 PPB, roughly the most water holds at normal air pressure. Figures above that are only meaningful sealed and fresh; the concentration falls once opened. A measured figure you drink straight away beats a larger claimed figure with no report behind it.
PEM vs alkaline ionizer, what is the difference?
PEM/SPE describes an electrolysis design; alkaline ionisers are designed around pH and mineral-ion changes. Neither label proves byproduct performance. Ask for exact production materials and model-specific water testing.
What water does the H88 require?
Use low-mineral water (TDS below 5). QTT used Watsons distilled water for its sample tests, but that condition does not establish compatibility with tap, mineral, filtered or other water.
